The Meadow Firm was designed with physical therapists for people who wake up with lower back pain on softer mattresses. It rates an 8 out of 10 on our firmness scale and keeps the hips from sinking below the shoulders, which is the main cause of morning stiffness for back and stomach sleepers.
The construction is a thin 1.5-inch gel-infused memory foam comfort layer over a 2-inch firm transition foam and a 6.5-inch extra-high-density support core. The thin comfort layer means you sleep on the mattress, not in it, and the gel infusion keeps the surface from building up heat. Edge support is strong for a foam mattress because the base foam is so dense. Motion isolation is good.
