Description
The Summit is the strongest mattress DreamBeds makes. It uses 13.5-gauge heavy-duty pocket coils, thicker than the 15-gauge coils in most hybrids, arranged in five zones with extra reinforcement through the centre third of the bed where most of your weight rests. It is rated for 500 lb per sleeper, 1,000 lb combined, without losing its shape.
The feel is firm, 8 out of 10. A 1-inch gel-infused memory foam layer and a 1.5-inch firm latex-alternative foam layer take the edge off the coils without letting the hips sink. Back sleepers, stomach sleepers and people who have been told by a chiropractor to sleep on a firm surface are the natural fit. Side sleepers under 200 lb will probably find it too hard.
Edge support is excellent thanks to a double-wall foam encasement, and the open coil structure keeps the surface cool. Motion isolation is moderate, as with most firmer hybrids.
