Description
The Regal is built by hand, one at a time, by our workshop in Austin, Texas. Each mattress takes two craftspeople a full day. It is a two-sided, hand-tufted innerspring in the traditional English style: no foam at all, just natural fibres over a double layer of pocket coils.
The comfort layers on each side are a blend of cashmere, silk and Joma wool over horsehair and cotton felt. These fibres wick moisture and regulate temperature better than any synthetic, which is why fibre-built mattresses sleep so cool and dry. The support unit is a nested two-layer pocket coil system with more than 2,000 coils in queen, hand-side-stitched to give the edges the same feel as the centre.
The feel is medium-firm, 6 out of 10, with a gentle buoyancy that fibre and coils produce together. Because it is two-sided, the Regal should be flipped and rotated every three months for the first year, then twice a year; the tufts will settle slightly in the first weeks, which is normal.
